Sphere One x West Wicklow Festival

Sphere One x West Wicklow Festival

A serendipitous evening for Sphere One at the West Wicklow Festival, near to where Lucy founded her cashmere brand in 1999.  What better way to capture our black tie styles than at this magical winter festival of chamber music where composer Eímear Noone and musicians Carol McGonnell, Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Fiachra Garvey all wore Sphere One.

A collaboration between Inis Meáin knitting company and Sphere One, sold at Barneys New York, The Inis Meáin x Sphere One New Aran Fisherman’s Sweater reimagined the traditional Aran sweater for today. Designed with experimentation and technicality to offer the ultimate protection and comfort, with respect and acknowledgement for the generations of women knitters on the island of Inis Meáin, the smallest of the Aran Islands on the Atlantic west coast of Ireland.

Sphere One Collaboration Tom de Paor architects Brandub game playing surface felt turf

Sphere One x De Paor Architects

We enjoyed playing games with architect Tom De Paor to create the Brandub playing surface, an ancient Irish board game. We used pure undyed wool as the felt playing surface, and Irish peat as the pieces. Collaboration really works well when the two parties, in trying to resolve their own element of the project, influence the other to improve the overall design. “They say that all real discoveries happen at the interstices or overlaps of disciplines. I think that when it works, the magic is here."
