Wicklow
Sphere One's Wicklow Collection for Spring Summer 2019 takes inspiration from delicate Ordnance survey maps of Co. Wicklow, at the foothills of the Dublin Mountains where Sphere One was founded. Hand embroidered contour lines, stitched to scale, follow the path of the emerging river Liffey in the National Park of Wicklow. Summer motifs of migrating swallows, and anchors dotted along lake edges, are denoted with Ancient Cairns (burial tombs) and other places of personal significance by running stitch and French knot. Subtle colours of highest quality cashmere from Scottish mill Todd and Duncan, one of the oldest, most skilled yarn spinners in the world, reflect the beautiful muted tones of maps.
